Discovering Greater Freedom Within

By Chaya Silberstein
When faced with only yourself and your own thoughts, it may seem like you reached a dead end at first and there’s nowhere else to go, for all you see is a mirror and the reflection is often not who you conceived yourself to be. Where is the image you so admired? Where are your dreams? Instead, obscure images appear. You try to make out the shapes with your intellect but roadblocks only seem to pile upon each other until there’s one big traffic jam. So, you settle-in and wonder if there’s another way, and while you’re stuck here, you may as well enjoy yourself. So, you reach for the radio in your mind and change the channel. A voice comes on and says, “It’s okay to let go.”
And there you are like Alice, tumbling down the rabbit hole, and passing reflections seem to say, “Welcome to yourself, welcome home.” You realize, there’s an entire inner world to discover, that life is not limited to the outside world, though it may be projected upon you—but past this projection screen, there you are connected to something so much more infinite, so much vaster. Like the stars themselves, you enter the space within and there you recognize the interconnectedness of life and it’s not about becoming someone but rather being who you already are.
It may take time to enjoy this spaciousness, especially when you lead a busy life, but this spaciousness is yours and can never be taken away from you. Your inner world is always there waiting to be discovered, waiting to take you on a journey, beyond what you can possibly conceive.
“How can I discover this place?” You may ask, “How can I find the quiet within?”
Within a house there is a house, within a door there is a door, and within you—there you are.
Practically speaking, this is why we do inner practices, such as meditation, knitting, art, spiritual study—and in this case—energy healing and Quantum-Touch. We often first approach energy healing from a vantage point of healing, but so often it leads us so much further and becomes a way of life.
It is very common when first discovering Quantum-Touch to want it to get rid of whatever condition might be plaguing you at the time, and often it does, but it’s also important to remember that life is layered and often recovery from an illness is only the beginning of the journey. It may not seem like it at the time, but if acknowledged with care, the discomfort can be perceived as gift life is offering to encourage deeper engagement within the self.
How easy it is to get caught up in all the external things life tosses about. Between work responsibilities, relationships, romance, children, financial security, it can sometimes feel difficult to acknowledge the inner world, but because the inner and outer elements of life are so tightly interwoven, sometimes things may show up in your outer world to clue you in to paying more attention to your inner world. It’s really about harmony and integration and acknowledging not just the light, but the shadows as well. It is tempting to want to push away the shadows, but in The Lazy Man’s Guide to Enlightenment (1971) Thaddeus Golas wrote, “What did you think it was that needed to be loved?” Often the very thing we want to push away, is the very thing that wants to be acknowledged, whether it’s a feeling, thought or even another person.
As the saying goings, “What you resist, persists.” Have you ever noticed, that you distance yourself from one person that’s bugging you and shortly after you meet someone else that bugs you in the same way? Or you quit a job over a particular issue, and sure enough, there the issue is swiveling gleefully in an office chair at your very next place of employment. Sometimes there’s years in between issues, but until they’re faced, “Boo!” They jump out of the most unexpected places at the most unexpected times. So, if we accept what we don’t like and realize it is often a reflection of our own fears, it has no need to keep showing up again because it feels acknowledged. Since love is all encompassing, “the separateness” becomes integrated and less and less do we become bothered by the world around us. As harmony happens within, so it begins to show up around us as well.
When you play your favorite piece of music, you hear it with your ears, but you also feel the vibrations within you. The musical notes hold onto nothing. The person playing the music holds onto nothing; if he did otherwise, there would be no song, just one note hammering away. Our inner world operates the same way—constant change.
In Quantum-Touch we do a particular breathing and body awareness exercise to raise our vibration, and the client comes along for the ride. We hold onto nothing. If the expectation is there for it to be a certain way, the way becomes limited. We are vehicles for change and the beauty is, we always end up somewhere new. Even if the condition is familiar, the more we let go of expectations, the more the body can find its own pathways to greater healing and greater expansiveness.
So, are you ready to go on this journey? Tremendous freedom lies within. You have merely to look within the mirror of yourself and surrender to whatever shows up. Whether it appears as a three-headed monster or a dull looking stone, can you see it for the gift it is and feel compassion? For it is you, even when it seems other. After all, “What did you think it was that needed to be loved?”
