Dealing with Stress
Have you been feeling stressed lately and wondering how you can feel more balanced and at ease? Look no further. Quantum-Touch energy healing techniques are an excellent way to help regulate your nervous system, calm your mind and allow some of the stress to drop from your shoulders.
First of all, I want to say: your feelings are totally valid. In today’s modern world there is a sense of so much juggling. Whether it’s paying your bills, maintaining healthy relationships, finding community, being successful in your career, and just feeling like your life has meaning and your existence as a human being is valid.
So much of everyday existence can be consumed by the nitty-gritty of just getting through the day—whether it’s taking care of a family and household, clocking into a 9-5 job, or running your own business. It is very easy to get overwhelmed and feel like a donkey plowing along without hope of a lighter load.
The great news is that if a problem exists there’s a way through. Not as something to necessarily get rid of but rather to experience.
We often view life in dualities; good/bad, black/white, night/day, painful/pleasurable, freedom/restriction etc. Viewing life this way can add the comfort of structure but it can also become limiting when we get stuck in any one state of mind. When this happens, the way in is through. Not by bypassing the issue but going into the body and allowing ourselves to be part of the experience.
Tricking the Mind
I had this really interesting experience during meditation. In addition to energy healing, I also practice martial arts and as part of this practice we meditate daily, for martial arts isn’t just about building strength on the outside but building strength on the inside too.
It was during a longer meditation that my back started to ache. As it was a non-moving meditation I decided to work with it energetically. I felt the energy flowing and where it felt stagnant in my back. My mind started getting caught in the pain, so I decided to use what was showing up— just gently guide it differently. Since the mind was dominant in that moment, I decided to play a trick on myself. As I experienced the pain, I decided to relate to it as if the sensation was pleasurable instead. As I did this, my mind became confused and quieted down. I became filled with gratitude and before I knew it, the pain minimized and actually did become something pleasurable. I was stunned and amused at the same time.
This transformation demonstrated to me the power of the mind and if you’re willing to experience a sensation just as it is, it does begin to change. Play and “trickery” are great in this instance. Since the mind was so convinced that back pain equaled displeasure, by flipping the paradigm on its head, the whole game disappeared and a quiet mind was the result.
Including Energy Healing
So back to the initial question of how to dispel stress in your own life using energy work?
Start by feeling your breath and slowing it down as you inhale deeply into your belly and then exhale. In Quantum-Touch we learn different breathing patterns as well as body awareness to really help drop you into your own body and open pathways to experience Life Force Energy.
As you connect to the greater field of existence that is within you and around you, your vibration begins to rise and things that bothered you begins to drop away.
I personally begin every single day engaged in energy healing practices. As I drink my morning coffee, I gently feel the sensations in my body, including those triggered by thoughts and emotions. Whatever arises I let it rise, and whatever falls, I let it fall. The key is to stay engaged. Even when relaxed, energy healing is not a passive practice because there’s a light awareness going on. It’s you engaged with yourself. The more engaged you are somatically, the more connected you become to the world around you and different flows of energy.
Our minds are extremely powerful, but we don’t change the mind by willing it. Instead if you’re playful, curious and dive into the sensations of the body instead, thoughts begin to drop away and inner balance begins to happen on its own.
Making Time for “No Time”
I was teaching a kid’s kung fu class last week and was conveying the inner challenge of the week to the students, which was to do their longest meditation. One little girl spoke up and said something that I’ve often heard adults say, but never someone so young. It kind of shocked me a bit when I heard her say, “I don’t have time to meditate.” I asked her how old she was, and she replied, “Seven.”
I inwardly chuckled and said, “That’s why you should meditate, because you think you don’t have time. Even just one minute a day. I give you that challenge this week.” She nodded with acceptance as she processed what I said.
It’s the very things we think we don’t have time for that are the very things that will most likely give us more time. For I’ve been discovering lately that time is not as linear as we often believe, but rather a continuum and a space that opens up when we approach it from another perspective.
Turning Stress into Opportunities
So, I invite you this week to use the moments where you feel stressed and overwhelmed to go deeper within yourself. If you’re doing work on a computer, feel your hands and fingertips and let the energy flow through you. If you’re washing dishes or folding laundry—same. If you’re stuck in traffic, instead of getting caught in the frustration and fear of being late, instead it can become an opportunity to play with your breath.
Every moment is indeed an opportunity to go further within yourself. It’s like the glass empty or full scenario. How do you want to view life? If it’s not to your satisfaction, begin with your breath, begin with your body sensations, and sense the connection to life force energy however subtle it may be. Even if you feel nothing at all. Trust that you’re a fish swimming in water that is so familiar with the water, you can no longer feel it. See it instead. Imagine deep blue oceanic waves, or crystal-clear tropical seas with radiant fish in multiple colors. You can also use your ears, sense of smell, or taste. It’s okay to have fun. It’s okay to be you—in every moment, right now.
